GEROME
adult male/neutered
short-hair
black and white
about 1 year old
When poor little Gerome was rescued in the Ridge Rd. area of upper Stoney Creek he was pitifully thin and dehydrated. A kind lady found him sheltering in a greenhouse on the property where she worked. He had made a hole in the plastic to get inside in his desperate search for food. When AWA was asked for help he was checked over at the vet's and then placed in a foster home where he began to eat non-stop. But after a couple of days he suddenly refused to eat and became very lethargic. His care-giver noticed that he had thrown up and passed some foreign objects - bits of wood and plastic that he must have swallowed while chewing his way into the greenhouse. Luckily, after being examined, the vet determined that he did not have any more obstructions and he perked up and began to eat again. He put on enough weight that his bones no longer protruded and he was well enough to be vaccinated and neutered. At first, he didn't seem to like other cats, but now he is getting along very well with the other cats in the playroom at the vet's. Gerome is very affectionate - he loves to sit on a lap and purrs happily when he gets the attention he craves.
